Job Description:

Parsons is looking for a motivated Chinese Mandarin Linguist with exceptional translation, research, and analytic skills to join our growing team!

In this role you will work alongside the development team conducting research, translation, and analysis onsite with the Mission Partner. You will provide essential analysis in support of mission needs. This is not a academic position and will directly support essential missions.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Provide written translation of technical and non-technical data

  • Write summaries of materials

  • Conduct open source research

  • Write reports in English

  • Respond to requests for information

  • Scan and process large amounts of material in the target language and identify critical and essential elements of information as defined by the government

  • Provide written translations of technical and non-technical material using correct syntax and expression from the native language to English

  • Conduct target language open-source research and compiling research findings into comprehensive reports in support of specific intelligence requirements

  • Work independently with minimal or no oversight and as part of a team

  • Collaborate with technical staff to process, and structure collected data in preparation for analytics

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

  • Requires a current DoD TS/SCI with SCI Eligibility

  • BA degree and 4 - 7 years of prior relevant experience

  • Additional years of experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree

  • The ideal candidate will meet the minimum language proficiency requirements as defined by the Interagency Language Roundtable scale (within the past 12 months)

  • ILR Skill Level 3 in Audio or Graphic

  • Conversational Chinese Mandarin language skills, including ability to hold conversation with an Mandarin linguist during interview process

  • Knowledgeable of idioms, colloquialisms, slang, and exposure to the Chinese cultural, social, and political environment

  • All applicants must have full professional fluency in American English, including a command of common idioms and expressions

  • Excellent written and verbal communication, competent cross-team collaboration abilities

  • Ability to self-research and problem solve

  • Must have good interpersonal skills and ability to interact with personnel from diverse cultures

  • Proficient with MS Office applications

What Desired Skills You'll Bring:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience within the US military or US intelligence community

  • Minimum DLPT 3/3/2/2 or Equivalent (ILS, ILR, ALTA) in Chinese Mandarin

  • Former Military linguistic experience (35P, 09L, 1N3, 2671, 2712, 2799, or equivalent)

  • Completion of U.S. Army OS-301 and OS-302, or OSINT Basic Course

  • Knowledge of military operations, terminology, and structure

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
