Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is seeking a dynamic Senior Deputy Fleet Chief (Senior Engineering Manager) to join our team in Seal Beach, California .

The 777-9 Senior Deputy Fleet Chief is responsible for leading the integration to ensure Customer Support 777-9 Entry Into Service (EIS) readiness. This responsibility includes leadership internal to Customer Support but also among key partners such as Program, Supply Chain, Boeing Global Service, and 777-9 customers. Upon successful 777-9 EIS, responsible for leading our teams to ensure continued safe and reliable operations of the 777-9 fleet. This is accomplished by meeting Customer expectations in everything we do and ensuring a high-quality product in the execution of safety and economic changes from Boeing and our Suppliers. Position Responsibilities:

  • Ensures 777 Fleet Chief Office and Customer Support readiness to receive the airplane upon successful EIS.

  • Conveys voice of the customer to ensure the fleet is properly represented amongst key stakeholders and partners in development, planning and execution.

  • Delegate for the Fleet Chief to the 777-9 Program and Customer Support Leadership Team, including 777 Safety Review Board and Cross-Model Safety Review Boards.

  • Fleet Chief delegate at operator meetings, including Executive Review Meetings, Operator Forums, etc.

  • Develops and maintains positive relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports.

  • Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches, products and processes.

  • Manages, develops and motivates employees and first-level managers.

  • Availability to travel at least 25% of the time.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills and Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.

  • 3+ years’ experience leading or managing an engineering team.

  • 5+ years’ experience working in Aviation Industry.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills and Experience ):

  • 1+ years previous experience as a Senior Manager

  • Proven ability to lead without direct authority.

  • Experience communicating and working with Senior leadership and Customers.

  • Experience managing multi-discipline teams across sites.

  • Experience in customer support.

  • Proven ability to embrace change, lead continuous improvement, and treat safety and quality as top priorities.

  • Knowledge of industry trends (customers, regulators, competitors, etc.).

  • Flexibility to support various time zones and off hours meetings.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary pay range: $166,600 - $225,400
