Job Summary:

JOB SUMMARY

In collaboration with the Trauma Program leadership, the Trauma Program Coordinator (TPC) is responsible for the coordination and facilitation of the Trauma Performance Improvement Program in collaboration with the Trauma Program Director (TPD). This encompasses all areas and disciplines of the hospital that participates in the care of admitted injured patients. TPC is responsible for data collection and analysis along with developing education based on trends for pre-hospital and hospital staff. The TPC collaborates closely with Trauma Program leadership to assure compliance with Trauma standards and guidelines.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Clinical

  1. Participates in Multidisciplinary Trauma Rounds to gather information, establish and maintain visibility, and review services and adherence to trauma standards and guidelines.

  2. Using evidence-based practice, supports the progression of the patient throughout the care continuum.

  3. Identifies and coordinates need and use of any appropriate resources to aid in the progression of care.

  4. Utilizes clinical expertise to aggregate, assess and interpret information to evaluate the quality of clinical care and review of appropriate services.

  5. Ensure that patient meeting protocol criteria are treated according to the appropriate Clinical Practice Guideline (CPG).

  6. Responds to the Pediatric Emergency Department (PED) for Level I and Level II trauma activations.

  7. Serves as a resource to the Trauma team and assists with resuscitation requirements when need be.

  8. Partners with the Trauma Program Director (TPD) develop and enforce policies and procedures relevant to care of the injured patient.

Knowledge, Experience, and Credentials Required

Registered Nurse

Current Tennessee state nursing license

Current PALS/BLS certification

5 years of trauma nursing clinical experience, e.g., pediatric emergency department, pediatric intensive care unit

Knowledge of computers, Windows, Power Point, Excel

Highly prefer:

Credentials as an instructor in Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC)

Experience in public speaking

Experience in Data Management

Experience in coordinating educational programs

Hold active membership in at least one national trauma organization and have attended at least one meeting during the verification cycle.

Maintain 36 hours of trauma-related continuing education (CE) during the verification cycle.

Bachelors Degree preferred
