Description

Summary:

Under supervision of department leadership, the Risk Management Coordinator position performs a wide variety of technical and office administrative support functions, including providing information and assistance to staff; maintaining risk management records, and researching and compiling a variety of reports; completing special projects and providing technical and administrative support to the Risk Management Department.

This position is responsible for performing the full range of risk management support work and will have the ability to work with only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise.

Responsibilities:

  1. Provides technical expertise, information and assistance to the department.

  2. Provides general administrative support (i.e., correspondence, policy reviews, scheduling meetings) including making recommendations for the development and revision of risk management documents, procedures, and forms; assists in the development of policies, regulations, and procedures.

  3. Identifies potential risk exposure; advises administration of unusual trends or problems and recommends corrective action.

  4. Verifies and reviews forms and reports for completeness and conformance with established regulations and procedures; applies policies and procedures in determining completeness of documents, reports, records, and files.

  5. Collects and compiles material for review and analysis; provides recommendations for changes in programs, policies, or procedures to improve efficiency and cost effectiveness of operations.

  6. Researches, compiles, and organizes information and data from various sources on a variety of specialized topics related to programs in assigned area; prepares and assembles reports, manuals, articles, announcements, and other informational materials. For example - Annual Quality Performance Improvement Committee and Management Report and Ad hoc reports upon request.

  7. Develops, composes, types, edits, and proofreads a variety of complex documents, including forms, memos, administrative, statistical, financial, and staff reports, and correspondence; checks draft documents for punctuation, spelling, and grammar; makes or suggests corrections to drafts.

  8. Performs special projects as requested.

  9. Responsibility for the Risk Management applications of the Nuvance Event Reporting Systems (ERS), Midas.

  10. Maintain and Model Nuvance Health Values.

  11. Demonstrates regular, reliable and predictable attendance.

  12. Performs other duties as required.

Education : BACHELOR'S LVL DGRE

Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Requirements:

  • Knowledge principles and practices of the risk management function, including report processing, liability claims processing, workers� compensation, safety training, and hazardous materials inventory and record keeping processes.

  • Methods, techniques, and practices of data collection, business letter writing, and report preparation.

  • High degree of autonomy and self-directed work with ability to handle multiple projects/problems simultaneously while maintaining a positive and professional demeanor.

  • Midas system development in conjunction with quality analytics team.

  • Ability to communicate effectively in situations requiring direct patient contact, contact with patient families, employees, colleagues and physicians with sensitivity, compassion and empathy.

  • Perform responsible risk management support work with accuracy, speed, and minimal direction.

  • Interpret, apply, explain, and ensure compliance with Federal, State, and local laws, rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and practices of risk management administration.

  • Respond to and effectively prioritize multiple priorities.

  • Establish and maintain a variety of filing, record keeping, and tracking systems.

  • Understand and follow oral and written instructions.

  • Understand scope of authority in making independent decisions.

  • Review situations accurately and determine appropriate course of action using judgment according to established policies and procedures.

  • Establish, maintain, and foster positive and effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.

  • Organize your own work, set priorities, and meet critical time deadlines.
