Essential Functions / Responsibilities:

GE Energy Management Services LLC seeks Staff Software Engineer, Electrical Power Systems (multiple positions) to be responsible for advanced Power Systems Application software development, testing, integration and tuning of assigned functions to meet corporate project/product commitments. The projects include developing Power system features for Electric Utilities or ISOs (Independent System Operators) and Transmission System Operators (TSOs). Act as a team member in Software Center of Excellence, representing the face of high-quality design and development practices. Implement new functionalities in power system application software which includes EMS (Energy Management System) and DTS (Dispatcher Training Simulator) applications. Provide maintenance of power systems application functionality, including code fixes, documentation, and user interfaces. Collaborate with system/project engineers, frontend developers and EMS and DMS application developers to implement solutions that are aligned with product direction. Interface with customers on general and specific issues within area of functional expertise.

Qualifications / Requirements:

The position requires a Master’s degree, or foreign degree equivalent, in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related field + related thesis work and 4 years of experience in an electrical engineering occupation or related occupation in which the required experience is gained.

The position also requires 4 years of experience in designing, developing or implementing the electrical power system applications for the advanced Energy Grid Management and Energy Market Management systems; 4 years of work experience in the power systems network applications; 3 years experience with programming skills in C++, Java or other related language; 4 years experience with an assigned technical area and a strong understanding of the EMS software; 4 years experience with power systems and/or energy management systems with focus on transmission Network Applications like State Estimation, Contingency Analysis, Optimal Power Flow or Dispatcher training Simulator; and 2 years experience with electric utility industry practices. Telecommuting is permitted. When not telecommuting, must report to offices in Bothell, WA.

The salary range for this position is $182,312 to $213,900. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience and their education.
