Location/Division Specific Information

The Insourcing Account Manager is responsible for the sales of research products and services to our self-manufactured divisions and clinical trial customers, primarily by using the telephone, email, Internet, and other technology. Our Sr. Insourcing Account Manager will also maintain effective customer relations across our Thermo Fisher clinical trial sites, develop opportunities for conversion and growth within sites, and drive site savings initiatives through channel conversions.

The Insourcing Account Manager will be integral in uncovering new business opportunities, aiding our self-manufactured sites in driving conversions, and delivering high level business reviews. This individual will support all aspects of the Insourcing team and be flexible in performing the different business functions required by our internal customers.

A day in the Life:

  • Develop and maintain effective customer relations with purchasing and end users to promote internal sourcing across our Thermo Fisher sites and Clinical Trials customers.

  • Drive increased utilization of RSD for lab supplies, chemicals, equipment, and safety products to all Thermo Fisher divisional manufacturing sites.

  • Develop product recommendations and support sourcing and quoting for Clinical Trial opportunities.

  • Obtain laboratory/site spend to external suppliers to identify estimated opportunity at each Thermo Fisher divisional site, identify items for conversion and potential savings, and drive spend from external manufacturers to self-manufactured groups/divisions

  • Conduct internal cross-reference analysis to model savings and support conversion for Insourcing opportunities. Develop conversion action plan, implement, and monitor progress.

  • Independently make decisions, but also use available resources to meet customer needs and work effectively with cross-functional team of supplier and internal resources; Seeks out broader relationships within the sites to help facilitate conversion to channel products.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in the sciences

Experience

  • 5+ years of sales experience, preferably supporting the research laboratory industry

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication, and presentation skills

  • Consistent record of establishing goals and achieving results

  • Computer proficiency in MS Office and the internet

  • Must possess a strong desire to serve the customer

  • Must deliver excellent customer service

  • Must possess the organizational skills to multi-task and meet deadlines as needed

  • Must be willing to travel to customer locations, if needed
